Crafting

You heard right. Crafting! Crafting in Crimson Star Online is a very essential part of obtaining the best gear available. In order to craft, you will have to mine, forage, and slay for all of the materials you will need.

Say you want the 'Extinction Blade' sword and shield. You will have to mine for certain materials, such as Energy Crystals from the Red Zones to power it since it's an energy blade. Then you have to mine materials such as ores and metals to make the sword itself. But the only way you can make all that is if you slay bosses and find the Extinction Blade rare item blueprint!

The rare items you can craft are not limited to weapons, but you can find blueprints for just about anything. Armors with special stats, Blueprints for constructables, pets, accessory items, and more.

That's all for crafting info at this time.

Weapon types and statistics

The list below are the weapon types locked to characters with info on their unique attributes:

SEEKER:
-Bo staff: The Bo staff is a weapon with a long and wide attack arc with a fast attack recovery but does light damage.

-Fist gauntlet: The fist gauntlet has a very short ranged attack arc, but has an incredible amount of attack recovery with medium damage.

-Spear: The spear has the longest melee ranged attack in a forward cone that deals heavy damage, with a slow attack recovery.

TEMPLAR:
-Sword and shield: The sword and shield naturally raises your defense stat. Swords have a medium ranged arc, and deal medium damage, but have a swift swing recovery.

-Claymore: The claymore have a very wide and long arc, and does a lot of damage, but has a slow swing recovery.

-Dual swords: Duel swords have a very fast swing recovery, and deal medium damage with a medium arc.

ARCHMAGE:
-Staff: The staff is an energy wave weapon that blasts it's enemies with the longest energy wave range in a forward cone that deals heavy damage but has a long recovery.

-Grimoire: The grimoire is an energy wave weapon that draws in Red Zone energy and uses it to fire a shotgun of energy out of the palm of the user in a wide cone that deals heavy damage in a shorter range with a long recovery.

-Orb gauntlet: The orb gauntlet is powered by shards of concentrated Red Zone energy that is fired out of the palm at a very fast rate with a long range and medium damage, but is harder to aim.

ASSASSIN:

-Dual daggers: Dual daggers have the fastest attack recovery with a very short attack arc and light damage but have a chance of dealing a critical hit.

-Bow: The bow is a long ranged weapon that has a medium fire rate and maximum attack range with heavy damage, but harder to aim.

-Katana: The katana is a weapon that deals medium damage with a very fast attack recovery but only slices in a forward arc at little over medium range.

ENGINEER:

-Dual pistols: Dual pistols have the fastest firing rate with ranged weaponry and deal light damage at a medium range.

-Rifle: The rifle is a medium ranged weapon that fires large shells at a medium rate with medium attack damage.

-Launcher: Launchers fire an explosive projectile that explode upon impact or upon reaching maximum range in an AOE for heavy damage with a slow rate of fire at medium range.

That concludes weapon statistics at this time.

Classes

In Crimson Star Online, upon creating a new character, you will choose what class you desire to play. Doing so will determine what weapon types you can wield, and what abilities you will unlock as you progress in levels.

The classes available are as listed:

-Seeker: The Seeker is a strong character class well versed in the martial arts. Seekers may use staves, fist weapons, and spears. The Seeker is considered a DPS class with medium armor bonuses and learns the Dash ability at level 5.

-Templar: The Templar is a very tough character class trained in the art of full body defense. Clad in heavy armor, they wield either a sword and shield, claymore, or dual swords. Their ability unlocked at level 5 is Ultimate Defense where they either block with their shield to half any damage they take, or parry with a sword if they have no shield to also half any damage taken if used at the right time during combat.

-Archmage: The Archmage character class is a ranged one with the knowledge of the ancient Crimson Star energy wave powers. Archmages use a staff, grimoire, or orb gauntlets. This class has light armor, but can obliterate their enemies with powerful abilities that they learn as the progress in level. The Archmage learn the ability to hover for short intervals at level 5.

-Assassin: The Assassin character class is adept in the art of deception and evasion. Not only do their stats make them naturally evasive, they have the ability to flash step at level 5 making them invisible and immune to attack as they do so. The Assassin may master dual daggers, the bow, or katana. They have very light armor however, so this is a very intermediate class to learn.

-Engineer: The Engineer character class is very reliant on ranged weaponry and knowledge in explosives. They utilize dual pistols, rifles, or launchers. Their level 5 ability is Auto Cannon which is a constructable turret that attacks everything in front of it in a cone for 4 seconds. They have medium armor but require some skill to aim shots, therefore making it an intermediate class.

That's all for class descriptions at this time.

Leveling

In the realm of Crimson Star Online, there will indeed be a leveling system. It will mostly Be for unlocking new gear lower levels cannot obtain right away and for fighting mobs since the game will be very skill oriented in terms of PVP with slight bonuses for having higher levels.

At level 1 you will start with nothing but your class' starter gear and a small sum of money. As you progress you will unlock abilities that are unique to your class. Each level will also automatically increase certain stats depending on what class you choose very slightly. Not enough to make you invincible in PVP, but to be on the same fighting grounds as your level of mobs or higher.

There will be various skills you also learn along the way as you reach every 5 level mark at a maximum of 30 levels.

At level 5, you will receive a class unique defensive or evasive ability such as shield blocking, dashing, and double jumping.

That concludes leveling info at this point.

Factions

As stated in Welcome Home, you will choose a faction to join upon creating a character. You first have to look into which faction you would like to join.

There will be 3 factions as listed below:
- Guardians of Red Star: the military force and protectors of the city Red Star.
- Crimson Tide: A third party militant organization that sets out to gather resources from the Red Zones.
- Solarian Rebel Alliance: A faction not sanctioned by the Solarian Council that pillages Red Zones, helping the Planet Eaters as they try to destroy Solarii.

'Red Zones' will constantly be contested for control by each faction. As a faction declares war with another faction, they will hold a full faction VS faction battle in that Red Zone. and the winner will have their faction logo placed over a Red Zone slot on the faction war board.

Factions will have several tiers of rank. Upon joining, you will be an underling of some variation. Once you've been fully introduced to the factions ways, they will make you a full basic soldier. Those who stick around and prove themselves worth, they may become an elite. Each faction will then be lead by a commander and vice commander.

Each faction will have a faction hall to represent their faction where they may hold meetings and meet up for battle planning.

The way faction wars will work is a very unique concept in the works. It involves both gameplay and role-play involvement. There will be a board placed in each faction hall with a map of each Red Zone on the planet. Each red zone will be controlled by the planet Eaters with their symbol placed at that location to represent their control. To take a point, two factions must declare war for a location. They will be flagged for battle, and the two factions will fight in the Red Zone they chose to determine who takes control at a planned time and date so that all available faction members can be present. The winner will then have their logo placed on the board over that Red Zone. Faction war teams can only have 2 members more than the opposite team at the beginning of any battle if the other team cannot match in numbers.

As factions take over all the Red Zones on the planet, the outcome will determine roleplay story continuation based on how the council wishes it to progress as a story such as if the Planet Eaters control most Red Zones, they will become an increasingly problematic force that invades the city more than one time daily.

That concludes the faction info. at this time.

Welcome home.

A little inside info. on the city you start in upon creating a character in Crimson Star Online:

You are a civilian born and raised in the city Red Star on the planet Solarii (So-lar-iy-aye). As you know, the planet is under attack by the Planet Eaters, and as such, so is Red Star. Every single day at a set time, Red Star will be attacked by Planet Eaters in waves for an hour. If you don't defend the city, they will seize it and wander the streets until you force them out regardless of if the hour is up.

New characters will choose their player class and select a faction to join, or choose to be a civilian of Red Star. Civilians are strictly restricted to being unarmed. They would carry out roles such as medics or workers around the city.

Civilians that arm themselves are considered rebels and are slayed on sight as part of the Solarian Rebel Faction that does not advertise itself as an official Solarian Council faction thus creating confusion as to who are and who are not rebels.

Red Star is the only safe zone on the planet. As soon as you travel to 'zones' outside of the city, you are flagged for PVP.

Development Updates

Welcome to the update blog for Crimson Star Online, the SL action RPG. This blog will be updated constantly with information on the games development.

Here's a taste of the background:

Crimson Star Online is an Action RPG within SecondLife set in a science fiction alternate universe where the technology is advanced, but the ways of the people are still quite medieval aged. On the planet Solarii, many of the inhabitants gather to defend their land from an ancient threat from another galaxy known as the Planet Eaters, a race of machines that devour the life source within a planet by creating 'Red Zones' that slowly draw out its energy. Fight the Planet Eaters, and save Solarii.
